So Fleetwood happy to have you back on.
00:01:44 Merrily
The casual temple. Hello.
00:01:47 Fleetwood
Happy to be here. Very happy to be here.
00:01:49 Merrily
Oh, glad yes. I really loved our conversation and I think either I can't remember if it was during that conversation offline or in a discord. You mentioned something about.
00:02:01 Merrily
Chatting about Mercury, Richard and I that.
00:02:03 Merrily
Was such a good idea.
00:02:05 Fleetwood
Yeah, it's it's a helpful. I feel like I've got a few survival tips from working in the tech industry that might be able to help some folks.
00:02:12 Merrily
That's right.
00:02:15 Merrily
Yeah. So I think, yeah. So I think you have really good insight into it and I, you know, and we have a mercury retrograde coming up here in 2024. So it is November 24th through December 15th. So it's coming up and I'm planning on releasing you know, our talk today hopefully right before then.
00:02:36 Merrily
So hopefully get you know, help some people out.
00:02:36
Yes.
00:02:40 Merrily
Yeah, yeah. So let's just talk Mercury retrograde. Like, how would you describe it to somebody who wouldn't?
00:02:48 Merrily
Know what it is.
00:02:51 Fleetwood
That's always the hardest one is. It's funny, but I think of it as Murphy's law time of year.
00:02:53 Merrily
Yes.
00:03:04 Fleetwood
What can go wrong will?
00:03:05 Fleetwood
Go wrong type of thing.
00:03:08 Fleetwood
And it's just the time to make sure you've got your stuff lined up, your eyes dotted and your T's crossed because you know the it's like having the health inspector come around.
00:03:16 Merrily
MHM.
00:03:22 Fleetwood
You got to make sure you're on the ball, because otherwise you're going to get dinged for it more than you normally would.
00:03:29 Merrily
Yeah.
00:03:31 Fleetwood
That's how I would kind of describe it to someone that.
00:03:35 Fleetwood
Was totally unfamiliar with it. Just is energy of not many, no safety net.
00:03:37 Merrily
Yeah.
00:03:44 Merrily
Yes, no safety net for sure. And then?
00:03:48 Merrily
Yeah, because it's related to the. I mean, it's our planet Mercury. And then the idea of, like, the Greek God, Mercury or Hermes. So it's things around travel, electronics communication.
00:04:03
The exchange of.
00:04:04 Merrily
Money, like all the things that really in our modern day like.
00:04:08 Merrily
Really. Like make things go round.
00:04:11 Merrily
And yeah, it causes people a lot of stress.
00:04:13 Fleetwood
Very, very much so.
00:04:15 Merrily
Yeah. Well, like, how was your last Mercury retrograde? Because I know you chatted a little bit about that.
00:04:23 Merrily
Before.
00:04:24 Merrily
Before.
00:04:24 Fleetwood
Well, the last one over the summer was quite eventful for me. But before we get into that, actually it brings up something.
00:04:35 Fleetwood
And I wanted to mention too. So you said that it was going to be starting on the.
00:04:43 Fleetwood
25th of November to December 5th.
00:04:49 Fleetwood
Sorry, December 15th.
00:04:52 Fleetwood
And I just wanted to point out that we are actually already in the mercury retrograde period because the mercury has already entered its shadow as of November 7th.
00:05:05
Oh.
00:05:07
Oh.
00:05:08 Fleetwood
So what that means is that when mercury goes retrograde, it literally travels backwards along the same path.
00:05:18 Merrily
Hmm.
00:05:19 Fleetwood
And on November 7th was when it passed the point in the sky that it's going to return back to.
00:05:27 Merrily
Oh OK. Wow.
00:05:29 Fleetwood
And so if you think about the the travel, if it starts here, goes out.
00:05:37 Fleetwood
Comes back and then goes forward again.
00:05:43 Fleetwood
The same point in space gets traveled over three separate times.
00:05:48 Merrily
All right.
00:05:50 Fleetwood
And so the important dates to know are when mercury enters the shadow period, when it first crosses that mark, which for the upcoming retrograde is 6° of Sagittarius.
00:06:07 Fleetwood
In case anyone out there is wondering.
00:06:10 Fleetwood
Then you have when it stations retrograde, which is when the the motion actually stops and the like in the sky when it stations retrograde, it would appear that the planet has totally stopped moving.
00:06:24
Hmm.
00:06:25 Fleetwood
But it's really it gradually slows down and gets slower and slower and slower until the retrograde point and then begins slowly moving backwards and then is speeding up to get to where it stations direct later. There's an important point in between though, too.
00:06:45 Fleetwood
Which is called the kazini.
00:06:49 Fleetwood
And that's when Mercury intersects the sun.
00:06:53 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:06:55 Fleetwood
And it marks the halfway point of the retrograde on December 5th.
00:07:04 Fleetwood
And then so yeah, when it's it's little station direct on.
00:07:10 Fleetwood
December 15th, but then it won't leave the shadow, even though it it starts moving forwards again, it isn't back into new territory again until actually January 2nd.
00:07:25 Merrily
OK.
00:07:27 Fleetwood
So you can kind of think of this whole time period as having a theme is the way I like to think of it.
00:07:34 Merrily
Mm-hmm.
00:07:36 Fleetwood
And so the last mercury retrograde a few days after we entered the shadow period, I was in a very, very minor car accident. I got rear-ended by someone not paying attention and.
00:07:54 Fleetwood
The.
00:07:56 Fleetwood
Check for the payment that I was supposed to get on top of having all sorts of rigamarole in the car. Like technically getting totaled, and even though it was running perfectly fine and like was barely hurt, of course that's how it goes.
00:08:14 Merrily
Mm-hmm.
00:08:15 Fleetwood
Then the check for the payment literally was mailed to me and never showed up. So literally had something get lost in the mail, which is very common for mercury retrograde themes.
00:08:24
Right.
00:08:28 Fleetwood
MHM.
00:08:31 Fleetwood
And when the check was finally cleared, I found out a lot of the places that I've been talking to about getting the car fixed don't actually work on totaled vehicles. So I had to find a place that would take a vehicle that had been totaled.
00:08:51 Fleetwood
Which is something I totally hadn't considered. Yeah, so it was. Yeah. You know, just the things that you don't have to know until.
00:08:55 Merrily
I wouldn't know that.
00:09:00 Fleetwood
It comes up but.
00:09:00 Merrily
Right.
00:09:01 Fleetwood
That's why it's a great example of the mercury retrograde story, because whatever you're dealing with will be something you were unaware of previously.
00:09:05 Merrily
Ah.
00:09:11 Merrily
Hmm.
00:09:12 Fleetwood
Yeah, something that comes up out of.
00:09:13 Merrily
You're like, oh.
00:09:14 Fleetwood
The blue.
00:09:15 Merrily
Right, like comes up and is. Yeah. Now in your face and you have to deal with it but.
00:09:22 Speaker 2
Yep.
00:09:23 Merrily
Oh gosh, yeah. I, you know, I was talking with my husband, JC, about Mercury retrograde. And he had, like, an interesting thought around it. Like, his interpretation is thinking about like mercury as like a person. Right. And so, you know, he's great when he's great. He's, like, getting all things done.
00:09:43 Merrily
Quickly and fast, like the communications, the electronics, all the things. But he also needs a break. And so he he thinks it's like his time to take a break. Right. Like he's so maybe those things aren't going to, like, operate as smoothly as they normally.
00:09:49 Speaker 2
Yeah, yeah.
00:10:00 Merrily
We do, we all need breaks.
00:10:03 Merrily
We all need to take a chill.
00:10:03 Fleetwood
Yeah, no, maybe that's a good way to put it. There's like a the the bosses and around to oversee all the transactions.
00:10:14 Merrily
Like that.
00:10:15 Merrily
Oh yeah. So he's like, maybe we need to take. And then I also think there's a component of like, you know, it's also the mind. And so we're always, you know, especially in our modern day, we use our minds quite a bit from everything.
00:10:29 Fleetwood
MHM.
00:10:29 Merrily
And so maybe we need to, like, relax our minds during that time and, like, take it easier or whatever.
00:10:35
Yeah.
00:10:37 Fleetwood
Definitely.
00:10:38 Merrily
So. So in that vein, do you have you? I just feel like there's a lot of media around Mercury retrograde even in like, regular.
00:10:48 Merrily
I don't know. Like.
00:10:49 Merrily
Online news. Things talk about it now, but it's always around like kind of this scary thing. Why do you think people freak out?
00:10:57 Merrily
About about mercury retrograde.
00:11:00 Fleetwood
I mean, it's the same kind of thing with, I mean.
00:11:04 Fleetwood
I think there's a lot of folks that will freak out about anything these days. Especially online. Yeah, there's no shortage of freak out, so that's for sure. But I think it's the same kind of way that we freak out about the idea of the power going out.
00:11:07 Merrily
True.
00:11:11
Yes.
00:11:21 Merrily
Hmm yeah.
00:11:22 Speaker 2
Is that?
00:11:24 Speaker 2
A.
00:11:24 Fleetwood
Heart sinking moment when all the sounds that you take for granted in the house come to a stop and it's you get moments like that with Mercury retrograde just and I think little smaller tidbits unless your power actually does go out, which is something that I would definitely associate with it.
00:11:30 Merrily
Right.
00:11:40 Merrily
Right.
00:11:46 Speaker 2
But it is.
00:11:49 Fleetwood
You know things that you come to rely on becoming unreliable, right?
00:11:55 Fleetwood
And that's always, you know, bound to shake.
00:11:57 Fleetwood
Things up a.
00:11:57 Fleetwood
Little bit.
00:11:58 Merrily
Yeah, for sure.
00:12:01 Merrily
Yeah.
00:12:04 Merrily
So as a person in tech, how would you like have people prepare themselves? Or or mercury retrograde or tips and?
00:12:15 Speaker 2
Yeah.
00:12:15 Merrily
Tricks for that?
00:12:18 Fleetwood
Well, this kind of applies even outside of a mercury retrograde. I feel like we all know people that.
00:12:27 Fleetwood
Everything seems to break in their hands when they touch it electronically.
00:12:32 Merrily
MHM.
00:12:34 Fleetwood
I think everybody has one relative like that in their family, or at least every tech person that I know, right?
00:12:41 Fleetwood
At least one person like that, and it's funny.
00:12:45 Fleetwood
A lot of.
00:12:45 Fleetwood
The folks that I work with in the tech industry seem to be the opposite of that.
00:12:53 Fleetwood
Like if you've ever had the experience of taking your car to a mechanic and the noise stops right as you pull it in the parking lot, I think that's more than just coincidence. I think there's different. You know, that's the place where things get fixed. And so it's it's more more fixed while it's there.
00:13:00 Merrily
Ram.
00:13:09 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:13:13 Fleetwood
And I think some people have a different kind of aura when it comes to, like electronics, generally speaking.
00:13:20 Merrily
MHM.
00:13:22 Fleetwood
But I have a personal theory that it relates to how grounded you are as a person.
00:13:32 Fleetwood
Which kind of there's something I want to explain about that. The way I use that term. So there's grounded, there's ungrounded, but then there's like.
00:13:44 Fleetwood
Tapped into the Super consciousness slash like Galaxy Brain mode that I think is the opposite of groundedness.
00:13:54 Fleetwood
But it's different from being ungrounded.
00:13:58 Fleetwood
If that makes sense, because I don't know if you've ever done a grounding meditation where you really sit and feel yourself get rooted into the earth.
00:14:08 Fleetwood
UM.
00:14:10 Fleetwood
It's a really slowing, relaxing feeling and you know it it.
00:14:18 Fleetwood
Trying to use a computer grounded is like trying to ask a tortoise to be a mail carrier. You know the rabbit might be less reliable, but he's definitely going to get it there faster.
00:14:32 Fleetwood
And you want to, to me, being in a spiritual sense when you're ungrounded, you don't have that rooted, tethered nature that a grounding meditation will give you.
00:14:48 Fleetwood
But there are other meditations where you kind of open up the top of your head and pull in light from above.
00:14:55 Fleetwood
Of you.
00:14:56 Fleetwood
Sometimes you do it in tandem with grounding and like kind of, you know, mix the energies inside yourself. I think the the middle pillar exercise is one that does that.
00:15:03
Mm-hmm.
00:15:10 Fleetwood
But what I've kind of adapted is doing, let's say.
00:15:16 Fleetwood
Taking the middle pillar as an example, doing just.
00:15:20 Fleetwood
The top half, so to speak.
00:15:24 Fleetwood
Where you're tapping into what's above instead of what's below.
00:15:30 Fleetwood
It doesn't leave you ungrounded, but to say that you're grounded and it would be a misnomer, and I haven't quite come up with a good term for it as much as I was thinking about it over the last week in preparation for this. But I I think.
00:15:50 Fleetwood
Being Galaxy brained is the way I like to think of it. That and it really is a good way.
00:15:58 Fleetwood
To use a computer.
00:16:00 Fleetwood
Because at the end of the day, the most effective way to use a computer is the way that the programmer is intended.
00:16:08 Fleetwood
And so there's an ideal thought process out there that I feel like you can tap into when you're using technology that is helpful.
00:16:19 Fleetwood
Totally outside of a, you know, grounded, ungrounded perspective.
00:16:25 Fleetwood
But and maybe it is tapping into that kind of mercury energy.
00:16:29 Fleetwood
Out there that helps you view the program or the application the way it was intended to be viewed rather than with your own previous biases.
00:16:41 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:16:42 Fleetwood
You know.
00:16:44 Fleetwood
I think having that kind of mentality helps with your.
00:16:49 Fleetwood
Field, so to speak, in the way that you interact with the technology itself.
00:16:54 Fleetwood
UM.
00:16:56 Fleetwood
I hope that kind of.
00:16:57 Fleetwood
Makes.
00:16:57 Merrily
Sense. Ohh yeah. Yeah it does. It's kind of like sinking from what I was getting when you're describing. It's like sinking your brain to the person that made whatever the software or program that you're using.
00:17:11 Merrily
And it's like.
00:17:11 Fleetwood
Yeah, and not even just the person that made it, but all the other thousands of people that used it and figured out, maybe little tips and tricks that even the designer didn't intend.
00:17:16 Merrily
Right.
00:17:25 Speaker 2
But it is.
00:17:28 Fleetwood
I feel like.
00:17:29 Fleetwood
When you're having trouble with technology, taking a minute to do an exercise to open up the top of your head, to what's out there can really help you step back and relax and.
00:17:44 Fleetwood
Come at it with a fresh mindset.
00:17:47 Fleetwood
You know.
00:17:49 Fleetwood
And a mercury retrograde time period, you're certainly more likely to need that kind of a tool, but it's a good tool to have, regardless of when you need it.
00:17:55 Merrily
Mm-hmm.
00:18:00 Merrily
Yeah. Would you mind not maybe. Not necessarily. Walking us through like a full meditation, but can you describe how you would?
00:18:09 Merrily
Do this kind of Galaxy brain. I know you kind of mentioned opening up. Can you kind of describe?
00:18:15 Merrily
How you would.
00:18:16 Merrily
Do it.
00:18:17 Fleetwood
Yeah. So the same way that like when you do a grounding exercise, you straighten your back, you sit with your feet on the floor.
00:18:17 Speaker 2
Yeah.
00:18:29 Fleetwood
And you know, it would probably be a good idea for a lot of people, especially if you're familiar with grounding to just go ahead and do a grounding exercise beforehand. I don't think it's gonna hurt anything, especially if you do the other one second.
00:18:47 Fleetwood
But ground yourself, feel that connection the way you with each breath.
00:18:55 Fleetwood
Because that's at least how I was taught to do it. You with each inhale, you pull the energy up from the earth into your body. And with each exhale, you exhale out. What is impure or not needed from you as you're filled with the energy of the.
00:18:58 Merrily
Mm-hmm.
00:19:12 Fleetwood
Earth.
00:19:14 Fleetwood
So instead of being filled.
00:19:15 Fleetwood
From the bottom up you get filled from the top down. So with each inhale you I like to envision like either the sun if it's daytime or the moon at night, or sometimes.
00:19:27 Fleetwood
It's like I think of like the galactic core or just like maybe the very center of the universe, just whatever is in a straight line up from the top of my head.
00:19:41 Fleetwood
At that given moment, but.
00:19:44 Fleetwood
I think of it as this beam of light beam of energy, with each breath coming down through the crown above my head and.
00:19:58 Fleetwood
Kind of like those.
00:20:01 Fleetwood
Flippy things that people will have in their bathroom to the colored oil and the air bubbles slot places. Yeah, I think of that when I'm meditating. Sometimes the way that the the oil will fall down and the air fills it from the top down. So kind of think of like that.
00:20:04 Merrily
Mm-hmm.
00:20:06 Merrily
Oh yeah.
00:20:18 Merrily
Hmm.
00:20:20 Fleetwood
Where each breath is filling your head and the neck and then shoulders and then chest and then abdomen down to your feet.
00:20:29 Fleetwood
And then sit there with that light filling your body, and then go back to your task the same way you would as if you were grounded.
00:20:39 Merrily
Cool. Yeah. Thanks for walking us through that.
00:20:43 Merrily
I kind of like the visual of.
00:20:44 Merrily
The wheel sensor.
00:20:46 Merrily
Is a good one, yeah.
00:20:49 Merrily
I am.
00:20:52 Fleetwood
I have really bad ADHD, so my mind tend to wanders real bad when I try to meditate, but I've I've definitely found.
00:20:55 Merrily
Oh really?
00:20:59 Merrily
Meditation.
00:21:04 Fleetwood
Kind of the things that my mind gravitates towards tend to relate to how I'm meditating, and so finding those little things like that that it reminds me of kind of, I don't know when I'm meditating, will give me something to latch on to and.
00:21:22 Fleetwood
Kind of entertain that part of my brain a little bit better while I'm trying to calm down.
00:21:27 Fleetwood
And relax it.
00:21:28 Merrily
Right. Yeah, I do think that's what. Yeah, for sure. That's happened in meditation for me as well, where you're just, like, making all these connection points, maybe even about the meditation itself. So that's a good point. That's a good point.
00:21:42 Merrily
UM, let's see. Well, do you think or in your experience, have you seen any sort of connection with like, astrologer, astrological, birth charts, like either your own or other peoples and whether or not they have a a stronger effect?
00:22:03 Merrily
Or like protection, even maybe during mercury retrograde?
00:22:07 Fleetwood
I would say absolutely, 100%, yes. And there's a real easy way for even non astrologers to kind of tell if, hey, is this one going to be rocky or?
00:22:10 Merrily
Mm-hmm.
00:22:21 Fleetwood
Not.
00:22:21
Hmm.
00:22:22 Fleetwood
Or depending on like how spread out your planets and stuff are.
00:22:27 Fleetwood
You can look up your chart and see. So like this upcoming retrograde goes from six degrees Sagittarius to 22° Sagittarius.
00:22:40 Fleetwood
And so personally, I don't have anything in Sagittarius. All my stuff is in Capricorn and Scorpio.
00:22:48 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:22:50 Fleetwood
But Sagittarius.
00:22:53 Fleetwood
Is a mutable sign.
00:22:58 Fleetwood
And so.
00:23:01 Fleetwood
Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces are the four mutable signs, and if you look at it on the wheel of the Zodiac, they make like a four pointed cross.
00:23:15 Merrily
Hmm.
00:23:17 Fleetwood
If you were to look at those four signs, so if you have it's it's good to know if your signs like especially your sun, moon and rising. If you're mutable, fixed or cardinal sign.
00:23:34 Fleetwood
That can would be helpful. Do you?
00:23:35 Fleetwood
Think if I go through.
00:23:36 Fleetwood
Which ones are which?
00:23:37 Merrily
Yeah, sure.
00:23:39 Fleetwood
So yeah, cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn, Mutable or Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. And fixed signs or Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.
00:23:55 Fleetwood
And the.
00:23:58 Fleetwood
Biggest difference between them or one like the it's kind of like tarot cards. There's lots of different correspondences between the types, but the.
00:24:07 Merrily
Mm-hmm.
00:24:11 Fleetwood
Since there's three different kinds, and there's.
00:24:14 Fleetwood
Four in each category, there's one in each season of the year is another.
00:24:22 Fleetwood
Way to look at.
00:24:25 Fleetwood
And so the.
00:24:29 Fleetwood
Cardinal signs is when the season first comes in.
00:24:35 Fleetwood
The fixed sign is in the middle of the season when it's the most like that season, and then the mutable sign is when the season is starting to fade into the next one.
00:24:50 Fleetwood
But if you know whether you're cardinal fixed or mutable because they make that you.
00:24:56 Fleetwood
Know.
00:24:57 Fleetwood
Cross sign across the Zodiac. You know that even if it's not in your sign.
00:25:06 Fleetwood
If anything going on in Sagittarius is going to be either opposing or making a square to the other mutable signs, and those tend to be the harsher aspects where it's going to really.
00:25:23 Fleetwood
Amplify the effect that it has on you.
00:25:28 Fleetwood
I should have written down where the.
00:25:35 Fleetwood
Retrograde was over the summer, but I'm sure it was in a fixed sign because I have Scorpio Taurus and Aquarius is my sun, moon and rising signs.
00:25:49 Fleetwood
So I'm yeah, I'm very fixed.
00:25:52 Fleetwood
So when stuff happens to one of the fixed signs, that always affects me pretty personally and on an intimate level, I'd say.
00:26:04 Fleetwood
So I've found it to be a really useful tool to know like like this will mean in Sagittarius, Sagittarius is mutable, not a big deal.
00:26:12 Merrily
For me, right. So you're probably going to, it's going to be fine.
00:26:16 Speaker 2
Yeah. Yep.
00:26:16 Merrily
For you.
00:26:19 Fleetwood
But Mercury Retrogrades 3 or 4 times every year, right? So you're probably going to get hit about once if you're unlucky twice a year, right?
00:26:31 Merrily
Well, that's good.
00:26:32 Merrily
To remember, maybe have people even look at their astrological charts a little closer to see, yeah.
00:26:39 Fleetwood
Yeah. Like for me, even though, like I said, Sun Moon and rising is Scorpio, Aquarius and Taurus.
00:26:50 Fleetwood
I have my Venus Uranus.
00:26:57 Fleetwood
Saturn and Neptune are all in.
00:27:03 Speaker 2
UM.
00:27:05 Fleetwood
Capricorn for me. So it's it's hard to when you have that many planets piled up on top of each other, it can be hard to tease apart their meaning sometimes. But I've noticed with Venus stuff especially that that.
00:27:22 Fleetwood
Cardinal signs will catch me up with that when it comes to like Venus Retrogrades, but that's a whole nother topic.
00:27:34 Merrily
I do think Venus, at least in my working she kind of does have a communication component only because, at least when I, you know, when I kind of work with her, it's like the familial or like kind of relationships between like, people that have a consistent.
00:27:54 Merrily
Relationships like your like your partner or your children, or like people close to you, yeah.
00:27:59 Fleetwood
Well, Venus handles law and business matters as well.
00:28:05 Merrily
That's right. That's right.
00:28:07 Fleetwood
Yeah, a lot of people forget that. But Venus also rule.
00:28:14 Fleetwood
Virgo, I believe. Or not Virgo?
00:28:19 Fleetwood
Libra Venus Rose, Libra, the scales of justice, and.
00:28:22 Merrily
That's right.
00:28:25 Merrily
Hmm.
00:28:27 Fleetwood
Like very much is a big part of Venusian energy.
00:28:33 Merrily
Yeah.
00:28:35 Merrily
Oh, and and then I was thinking around sort of because my own personal way my chart works, and I've done. I've had Christopher Warnock do. He has this thing where he does like a mage reading. It's pretty cool.
00:28:53 Speaker 2
Umm.
00:28:53 Merrily
But he'll figure out this particular. It's called the El Mutun figuris.
00:29:00 Merrily
And it's basically, uh, depending on certain factors in your birth chart, it creates like a number.
00:29:06 Merrily
And then whatever that number is, it corresponds to the the planet or not. The number corresponds, but if a particular planet is like has this these placements it makes like the largest number, and then that's your.
00:29:21 Merrily
Al mutton. Vigorous. And then mine happens to be mercury. So to me it's like most of the time. And I say this I'm saying this is what I'm going. I already told you that I'm traveling during this next retrograde. But like, I haven't really felt the effects of mercury grade on like.
00:29:40 Merrily
Like.
00:29:41 Merrily
Big massive scales, but I haven't really, but I'm going to be paying.
00:29:45 Merrily
Attention now because I have.
00:29:47 Merrily
The only one I think recently it wasn't the 1:00 during the summer, but I think there was one maybe in the.
00:29:52 Merrily
Spring.
00:29:53 Merrily
Because it was with a previous guest, Maria Bomani, like we were having like a pre chat interview and.
00:30:00 Merrily
Like.
00:30:01 Merrily
Somebody's in our Internets were not working.
00:30:04 Merrily
And so it was like.
00:30:05 Merrily
And we were both, like talking and laughing about how it was like, you know, Mercury retrograde. So.
00:30:10
Yeah.
00:30:10 Fleetwood
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:30:12 Merrily
Yeah, but yeah, thanks for walking through sort of like the astrological correspondences. And looking through that and now I'm going to be looking to see maybe during that time with Maria, what was going on, but.
00:30:26 Fleetwood
Well, and it's really, really I've been.
00:30:30 Fleetwood
Fascinated by.
00:30:32 Fleetwood
Much like, look back at the time around the 7th of November, if you can and look for a theme because like it could be something small, but it's that small thing that might be *********** behind the scene that then comes up on your trip.
00:30:37 Merrily
Hmm, OK.
00:30:52 Merrily
That's right.
00:30:54 Fleetwood
Yeah. And, you know, it might be something like you. Just you found a.
00:30:59 Fleetwood
Heads up, Penny on the ground and picked it up. That's something you might not even remember. And then you find a $50.00 bill while you're on vacation. Like there's all sorts of different ways it could work out.
00:31:08 Merrily
All right, yeah.
00:31:15 Speaker 2
But it's I it really.
00:31:19 Fleetwood
Seems to me that there's a correspondence that will come back around the three times at the start of the when it enters the shadow around the middle midpoint, or the kazimi, and then when it leaves the shadow.
00:31:35 Fleetwood
Over that like 3 month period or six week period, something like that.
00:31:40 Merrily
Mm-hmm.
00:31:44 Fleetwood
And I feel like it's there's I, I feel like that is such an important piece of if you want to learn something from it.
00:31:51
Hmm.
00:31:52 Fleetwood
And not not just be at the whims of the space weather.
00:31:57
Right.
00:31:59 Fleetwood
But if you want to actually glean some sort of lesson, it'll have to do with that theme that's coming up multiple times, and I think you are doomed to repeat the same retrograde mistakes until you learn the lesson there and.
00:32:02 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:32:15 Merrily
Hmm.
00:32:17 Merrily
I like. Yeah, that's a great thing to consider and think about. Now I'm having to go back in my memory about what's.
00:32:22 Speaker 2
OK.
00:32:25 Speaker 2
Was.
00:32:26 Fleetwood
That's actually something that came out for me studying about Venus Retrogrades and how they happen in the 8 year cycle.
00:32:30 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:32:35 Fleetwood
And it just kind of.
00:32:39 Fleetwood
Kept coming up around Mercury and around Mercury, but it's something that I think especially like I'm really bad about keeping a journal, but because the mercury retrograde is so fast, it's like things are still so fresh in your memory that I feel like it's a good time to learn lessons.
00:32:53 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:33:01 Fleetwood
Yeah, my I have mercury, the sun and Pluto all within two degrees of each other in my birth chart with Mars is a little bit further off, but they're all in SCO.
00:33:10 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:33:13 Fleetwood
Bill.
00:33:14 Merrily
Interesting.
00:33:16 Fleetwood
And the I had one astrological reading. The person said that because Mercury was so directly under the rays of the sun in my chart, they call it a melted mercury.
00:33:32 Fleetwood
And for me, Mercury has always been kind of this more fluid character, almost like the shape shifting side of it, I think is a little bit more exaggerated.
00:33:39 Speaker 2
Oh.
00:33:46
Hmm.
00:33:48 Fleetwood
Interesting.
00:33:50 Merrily
Yeah, that's another thing for people to look at. Yeah, that was something sort of what? You know, we were one or I was. I had on the question, like your own personal relationship with Mercury.
00:34:01 Merrily
Do you have maybe an example of like how that showed up as more?
00:34:06 Merrily
Like transitional or fluid.
00:34:09 Fleetwood
Well, it's, I think just in learning about.
00:34:13 Fleetwood
The spirit of mercury, or maybe my own spirit of mercury.
00:34:20 Fleetwood
But it's so fluid in every way you could imagine, like gender fluid.
00:34:28 Fleetwood
Form fluid just.
00:34:33 Fleetwood
Like the the way that I think of it is that mercury is the ultimate messenger.
00:34:39 Fleetwood
But to be the ultimate messenger, you have to be able to assume any form because there are places that only women can go. For instance, only birds can go in different mythology.
00:34:54 Fleetwood
It's like there are places that only the dead can go and you have to be able to fully take messages to every part of creation, so to speak. You have to be able to become each one of those and turn to deliver the messages.
00:35:11 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:35:13 Merrily
Ohh.
00:35:15 Merrily
Oh yeah, that's really interesting to think about. I like that quite a bit.
00:35:19 Speaker 2
Yeah.
00:35:21 Merrily
Ohh, let's see. We're gonna move in here. Uh, what are?
00:35:26 Merrily
Some do you have?
00:35:27 Merrily
Any specific rituals or anything that you do for either mercury retrograde or just Mercury or Hermes in general?
00:35:38 Fleetwood
I would say I haven't done anything besides like just my general Galaxy brain stuff.
00:35:45 Merrily
M.
00:35:47 Fleetwood
For Mercury retrograde, but I definitely have worked a lot with Mercury, just as like that psycho pumping figure that can like I almost use.
00:35:56 Speaker 2
Right.
00:35:56
Thanks.
00:35:59 Fleetwood
Mercury is like an intercessor, like the way some people use Saints as because they can take messages to anyone. If you're trying to work with a new deity, Mercury is a really, really, really good place to start. Or if you want to get into deity work or.
00:36:16
Mm-hmm.
00:36:20 Fleetwood
Work with any sort of entities really. Mercury is such a good first one because you can then go to mercury to kind of like.
00:36:29 Fleetwood
Introduce you to anyone else you want to get to know.
00:36:32 Merrily
Yeah.
00:36:34 Fleetwood
So that's one thing I'd say.
00:36:38 Fleetwood
I'd also say that Orphic him to Mercury is something that I've used to great success. I mean, all the orphan chems are amazing, yeah.
00:36:48 Speaker 2
But.
00:36:49 Fleetwood
I think that's.
00:36:51 Speaker 2
I.
00:36:52 Fleetwood
I don't have more than that because I haven't needed more than.
00:36:54 Merrily
That yeah, yeah.
00:36:57 Fleetwood
It's just such an effective tool to have. I did write down some correspondences though. If you want me to go through those for Mercury. Yeah. So colors you've got.
00:37:05 Merrily
Sure. Yeah.
00:37:10 Fleetwood
Yellow. Silver. Gray.
00:37:14 Fleetwood
For symbols, the caduceus, that's one that's really important.
00:37:22 Fleetwood
The staff of the snakes twined around it. That's like the mercury symbol. That and the wing and helmet and sandals.
00:37:35 Fleetwood
The herbs that are really good with mercury or lavender, peppermint, fennel and caraway.
00:37:43 Fleetwood
The last two I haven't used personally, but lavender and Peppermint I will personally attest to are really good with mercury.
00:37:54 Fleetwood
Crystals. Again, I haven't worked with these, but this is I wanted to look up some stuff for the.
00:38:00 Merrily
Yeah.
00:38:02 Fleetwood
Podcast and I was able to find.
00:38:06 Fleetwood
Recommendations for citrine clear quartz.
00:38:10 Fleetwood
I gate and.
00:38:14 Fleetwood
I can rebound. Henry highlight. Oh, how light nice.
00:38:18 Fleetwood
Yeah, the one I'm not as familiar with those crystals, but clear quartz definitely makes a lot of sense just because it's so neutral and can kind of hold any sort of energy that you put into it.
00:38:29
Mm-hmm.
00:38:34 Fleetwood
That makes me think of mercury a lot, yeah.
00:38:39 Fleetwood
And lastly, just the magician tarot card.
00:38:44 Fleetwood
Is super mercurial. If you want to know a lot about Mercury, you learn a lot about the magician card because it's the same kind of.
00:38:54 Fleetwood
Sauce energy.
00:38:58 Merrily
Yeah.
00:38:59 Merrily
I think that's a good.
00:39:00 Merrily
Yeah, they're really good places to start.
00:39:04 Merrily
Yeah, I personally I think I've used dill quite a bit with Mercury and Hermes.
00:39:09 Speaker 2
Mm-hmm.
00:39:12 Merrily
Ah.
00:39:13 Merrily
I think he tends to like it.
00:39:15 Merrily
And then I'll use like candy because I think of like, yeah, like, somebody being kind of hyper and a lot of energy. So I'm like, I tend to give some candy.
00:39:18 Fleetwood
Yes.
00:39:25 Merrily
UM on Wednesdays.
00:39:28 Merrily
But yeah, and then I'm thinking about because I I was, you know I mentioned and I that I have this upcoming trip and I'm like.
00:39:36 Merrily
I'm trying to dot all my like print, making sure I have copies of all my documentation because I'm going to Australia and New Zealand so I want to make sure.
00:39:44 Merrily
I have everything.
00:39:45 Fleetwood
Yeah, definitely.
00:39:46 Merrily
And then I have. I'm going to be wearing. I have like, a an Ibis necklace, the representing towels. And then I also have like, a mercury dime.
00:39:57 Merrily
I'm like, I'm going to have a.
00:39:59 Fleetwood
Can I tell you what I immediately thought of? Yes. With that trip, there's a.
00:40:02 Merrily
Please.
00:40:04 Speaker 2
The.
00:40:05 Fleetwood
Bird in New Zealand, I forget the name of it, but it's renowned for stealing things that are valuable and they're known for taking travelers passports.
00:40:12
Oh.
00:40:17
Oh my gosh.
00:40:18 Merrily
Oh, that's hilarious. Well, and that, that's good to know.
00:40:20 Speaker 2
Yeah.
00:40:22 Speaker 2
Yeah, keep it, keep it close.
00:40:24 Merrily
Oh, yes. Oh, we definitely keep you close. Uh, that's a good point.
00:40:29 Fleetwood
Yeah, apparently they'll RIP out like the the rubber seal around car windows. And like, they're very destructive and stuff like that.
00:40:39 Merrily
I have to look at this bird because we are we are renting a car.
00:40:45 Merrily
Ohh gosh, trying to think what else have I done? I'll probably do like because the Wednesday before I leave I'll probably do something you know be like.
00:40:58 Speaker 2
Yeah.
00:41:01 Fleetwood
Well and.
00:41:03 Fleetwood
Just as a tip and related to that.
00:41:07 Merrily
Hmm.
00:41:08 Fleetwood
There are so many mercurial spirits out there.
00:41:14 Fleetwood
That are separate from mercury itself, so to speak, but I feel like mercury almost more than anyone, has just this legion of little errand keepers. And it's not.
00:41:18 Merrily
MHM.
00:41:33 Fleetwood
Unwise to maybe ask for, especially during the retrograde period for a mercurial spirit to watch over you specifically.
00:41:43 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:41:45
I love this.
00:41:46 Fleetwood
That you can leave it, leave it offerings and you know, kind of make a little packed or.
00:41:51 Fleetwood
Bond with it that.
00:41:54 Fleetwood
To see you through your trip safely and like I always like when I do stuff like that to make an offering at the start, but also make a promise for an offering once it's delivered.
00:42:07 Fleetwood
So to speak, you're like when you get back from your trip that following Wednesday as well do something, but to like put that into the into the petition that you promised to do that, as I have found, that's pretty effective.
00:42:22 Merrily
Oh.
00:42:22 Fleetwood
When coercing spirits like that.
00:42:25 Merrily
Yes. Oh, I love. I love that tip. I'm definitely going to do that because I see, like, we live in the Pacific Northwest, we have crows everywhere. I think most people here in Seattle love the crows like they really dig them, so we're no exception necessarily, but.
00:42:40 Fleetwood
MMM.
00:42:43 Merrily
I do see them as like very mercurial creatures because they.
00:42:48 Merrily
Communicate like because we pay attention to them so often, like they definitely communicate with each other. We've kind of like understood sort of what different calls are we give them peanuts, you know. So I do see them as very mercurial. So that I think it's the crow that's going to be my.
00:43:04 Merrily
My ritual that you pointed out because I love it so much, so I'm definitely going to do that.
00:43:05 Fleetwood
Yeah.
00:43:10 Fleetwood
Perfect. Yeah.
00:43:12 Merrily
I'm not.
00:43:13 Merrily
Well, let's see. We're kind of kind of nearing the end. It's our kind of quick, very mercury, Hermes sort of betting on Mercury retrograde.
00:43:20 Speaker 2
Yeah.
00:43:22 Fleetwood
Yeah.
00:43:23 Merrily
But was there anything else that you wanted to mention about?
00:43:25
Sure.
00:43:27 Merrily
Well, either mercury or.
00:43:29 Merrily
Retrograde.
00:43:33 Fleetwood
I would say Mercury's kryptonite is procrastination.
00:43:41 Fleetwood
Like maybe that's what if there's a theme for.
00:43:46 Fleetwood
The difference in mercury during the retrograde versus not.
00:43:51 Fleetwood
It's like the mail carrier that gets to the end of the block and finds something from the top of the block still in the bag. These little gotta retrace his steps to go all the way back and then back down the block again.
00:44:03 Speaker 2
Hmm.
00:44:07 Fleetwood
It is energy that normally wants things to be taken care of right as soon as they can be, but during the retrograde it is a time when you can maybe get away with a little bit of procrastination as much as you want to have your stuff taken care of leading up to it.
00:44:26 Fleetwood
It is in the air, so to speak.
00:44:31 Fleetwood
And I don't want to say procrastinate away, but it is.
00:44:37 Fleetwood
I've found you can get away with it a little bit easier when everything else is a little bit.
00:44:41 Fleetwood
More.
00:44:41 Fleetwood
Chaotic. So that's one upside to a mercury retrograde. I wanted to throw in there.
00:44:42 Merrily
Hmm.
00:44:47 Merrily
I love it. Yeah. As somebody who kind of procrastinates, I kind of like the permission to do that.
00:44:55 Merrily
So that's crazy.
00:44:56 Fleetwood
Well, especially when you're on a trip. I mean, what?
00:44:58 Fleetwood
Is the trip but.
00:45:00 Speaker 2
Yeah.
00:45:01 Merrily
Kind of procrastinate in a lot of ways, but we're pretty much zooming through, but we'll we're going to make it.
00:45:08 Merrily
I I put in definite relaxation points, yeah.
00:45:14 Fleetwood
That's important.
00:45:15 Merrily
Yes. Oh, wow. Yeah. Thanks, Fleetwood. I'm so happy that you wanted to do and talk about Mercury retrograde. So this is really cool.
00:45:24 Merrily
Yeah. Did you have any any upcoming projects or things that you wanted to let the audience know about?
00:45:31 Fleetwood
No, not really. This is the biggest thing I had upcoming was just coming on here and talking with you. I've still got my tarot store open at fiverr.com slash.
00:45:41 Merrily
Oh cool.
00:45:43 Fleetwood
3 fish tarot that I recommend anybody interested in reading stop by. But aside from that, I've had a few personal service or related projects going on that I've been working on.
00:45:58 Speaker 2
OK.
00:46:00 Fleetwood
Yeah, aside from that, just hitting the daily grind, doing the day job routine.
00:46:07 Merrily
Yes, same here. Yeah, definitely. Everyone. Check out fleetwoods at Treefish tarot as well as, like we did in our first.
00:46:19 Merrily
That was about the Charo, so definitely want to listen to.
00:46:22 Merrily
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You you have a lot of really good, cool insights on tarot that I really loved, so it's good. One cool.
00:46:32 Merrily
Yeah. So finally, I know you previously left us some words with him. Do you have any new wisdom that you would like to share?
00:46:41 Fleetwood
I kind of did, but I think the theme for me recently has just been learning to love myself a little bit more than I had recently, so I would just want to share that with everyone else.
00:46:54 Fleetwood
Time, especially during the mercury retrograde, be kind to yourself. Take care of yourself and you know if there's something you've been waiting on, don't wait. No, no time like the present to do the things that make you feel good and proud of yourself.
00:46:59 Merrily
Hmm.
00:47:14 Merrily
I like that.
00:47:14 Merrily
Yeah. Well, well, thank you so much, Fleetwood. This is great.
00:47:19 Fleetwood
Yeah.
00:47:24 Merrily
